Choice Map

The above map is an map of the electoral votes won by each candidate in the 2012 election.  This is  a great little map that can be used a number of ways.  One way it could be used in a Human Geography course is to analyze the cultural practices and beliefs that would lead to particular states voting the way they did.  Obviously, this activity would require students having a little background in the political beliefs of each candidate.  Yet, since the election was not that long ago most students should be able to understand the basic political differences between the candidates.  This map could then be cross referenced with another of other maps, such as religious attendance, education level, etc.  Students would then have to make connections between political practices and cultural practices.
Also the activity could also be used in government and history courses as well.
